Services & Pricing

Payment Methods: Michael Bates Photography accepts MasterCard, Visa, Personal/Business Checks, PayPal and Cash. Invoices and/or receipts are provided for your records. Session Fees are payable at the time services are rendered. Payment for print orders are due when the prints are delivered. There is a $25 charge for any returned check. Please note: Session and Print Pricing are subject to change at any time, however Session Fees are locked in when you book your date and time. Print orders will reflect the current pricing at the time of your order.
Special Events | Commercial | Print Pricing
Booking/Session Fees: Photographer may require a Non-refundable $25 Booking Fee prior to the session to lock in your date/time. Booking Fees are non-refundable and are separate from your Session Fee. Rescheduling up to 48 hours in advance of the session date is permissable and your fees will carry over to the new date/time. Cancellations or rescheduling within 48 hours will result in forfeiture of the Booking Fee. Location Fees (for example, Austin Botanical Gardens, Dunvegan Keep, etc.) will be added to your invoice as a separate line item.
Retouching: Each session includes Standard Retouching at no additional charge. This service includes color correction, light blemish removal, simple airbrushing, black & white/sepia conversions and resizing images to client specifications. Enhanced Retouching is available for an additional $35 per image. Enhanced Retouching includes major blemish removal, special filter and airbrushing effects, etc.
Standard & Enhanced Prints: Standard prints will be processed on professional lustre paper (similar to semi-gloss). Enhanced prints can include the following finishes - metallic, gallery-style linen, canvas and fine art gallery wraps. All prints have a lightfastness of 100+ years if stored properly under UV glass or sheet protectors
Matting & Mounting: This is an additional service and will be priced based on the image specifications and needs of the client.
Satisfaction Guarantee: Michael Bates Photography guarantees 100% satisfaction for his clients. If you aren't happy with the images, Michael will gladly provide a repeat session at no additional charge. Michael can only guarantee the quality of prints if they are purchased through him.
Headshots (on-location and/or studio): Michael specializes in headshots for models, actors and executives. He will work with you (or your agent, if applicable) to achieve the look you desire. Remember, your headshot is the first impression you make on an agent, casting/art director or potential client. Be the best you can be!

Starving Artist Package
Session Fee: $125
- Two looks/outfits
- Online proof gallery (password protected if you wish)
- Border and contact information included at no additional charge. If you need an agency logo you will need to provide the graphics in an acceptable format and size
- Two print-ready 8x10 images on CD with a licensing agreement allowing you unlimited reproduction rights for self-promotion
Go For The Gold Package/Mini Portfolio
Session Fee - $275:
- Up to 4 outfits/looks
- Online proof gallery (can be password protected if you wish)
- Border and contact information included at no additional charge. If you need an agency logo you will need to provide the graphics in an acceptable format and size
- 25-8x10 prints (one pose/look only) included (w/border, name and agency logo if needed)
- One image from each look (can include 1/2, 3/4 or full body images on CD in full resolution/print ready format
- Licensing agreement allowing you unlimited reproduction rights for self-promotion
Additional Services:
- Additional outfits/looks - $25 each
- Additional prints (blocks of 25 - one look only per block) - $35 set up fee plus $2.50 per print
- Additional full resolution, standard retouched, print-ready images on CD/DVD - $65 per image

Talent Portfolios (on-location, studio or combination): Having a wide variety of looks and styles in your portfolio is essential to show potential agents, casting/art directors or clients your versatility. Michael will work with you to achieve a wide gamut of looks for your portfolio.
Session Fee - $425
- Up to 6 outfits/looks
- Online proof gallery (can be password protected if you wish)
- Standard retouching
- CD/DVD with up to 10 full resolution, print-ready (8x10 or 9x12) retouched images (can include headshots)
- Licensing release allowing you rights to have images printed for self-promotion
Additional Services:
- Additional outfits/looks - $25 each
- Additional full resolution, standard retouched, print-ready images on CD/DVD - $65 per image
- Enhanced Retouching - $50 per image

Portraits - Families, seniors, children (personal use only): On-location, studio or a combination. Image proofs will be placed in an online gallery for viewing (this can be password protected if you wish). All packages include Standard Retouching.
Senior/Individual Portraits (Studio and/or Natural Light):
- Session Fee - $100 (2-3 outfits)
- 20% discount on print orders of $200 or more (applies to print order only, not the session fee if ordered within 30 days of receiving the online proofs)
- Standard Retouching included
- Enhanced Retouching - $50 per image
- Online Proofing
- Additional outfits - $25 each
- Makeup Artist (MUA)/Stylist - contact me for approximate pricing
- Studio and/or natural light settings (can be a combination of both)
Family Portraits (Studio and/or Natural Light):
- 1-2 Outfits: Session Fee - $100
- 3-4 Outfits: Session Fee - $125
- Large Groups (Conferences, Office Parties, etc.): Contact me for special discounted pricing.
- Custom Packages: Michael can design a custom package to meet your needs and your budget. Contact me to discuss.
All portrait sessions include Standard Retouching and online proofing. 20% discount on print orders of $200 or more (applies to print purchases only and must be ordered within 30 days of receiving the online proofs)

Wedding Packages: Michael Bates Photography recognizes that every wedding is special and unique, thus we strive to provide you the excellent service on which we base our professional reputation. We generally provide a documentary/journalistic style for photographing your special day. As each wedding is special we don't provide canned packages, but will customize to meet your needs and your budget.
We do ask that if your wedding party has 4 or more that you provide either a wedding coordinator or someone to assist during the portrait session to make sure it runs smoothly (I really don't want to be trying to find Aunt Jane or Uncle Bud when I don't even know what they look like).
Base Package - $2500 (requires a $500 prepaid non-refundable booking fee which is applied to your total package)
- Includes up to 6 hours with one photographer
- 1-11x14, 2-8x10, 4-5x7 Standard Lustre Prints included in the basic package
- Standard retouching on client selected images
- Online proofing (password protected if you wish)
- Standard Print Pricing applies for orders under $200
- Print orders of $200 or more receive a 20% discount (applies to print order only) if ordered within 30 days of receiving the proofs
Additional Services:
- Engagement Session - Standard Individual Portrait Session pricing ($100 session fee) applies
- For over 6 hours of coverage - $100 per additional hour (one photographer)
- Second professional photographer - $100 per hour
- CD/DVD of client selected images (full size/resolution and print ready in 8x10 ratio) - $800
- Bridal Session - $350 Includes 1-11x14", 2-8x10" and 4-5x7" prints (mounting, matting and framing are an additional cost)
- Enhanced Retouching - $50 per image
- Rehearsal & Rehearsal Dinner Coverage (one photographer) - $250

Special Events: Michael can provide photographic documentation for your next special event. Whether it be a corporate retreat, your child's birthday party or a sports event you can be assured of top quality images in a photojournalistic style.
Standard Rates:
$120 per hour plus $300 for a CD/DVD of the images in full resolution with basic retouching. Note: Rates are negotiable depending on the scope of the event. Children's Birthday Parties are priced a bit differently - contact me to discuss.
Commercial Services: If you're looking to present your products, real estate offerings, apartments, condos or construction progress Michael will provide you with top quality images for your catalogs, brochures and websites. Note: Rates are negotiable depending on the scope of the project.
Standard Rates:
- $120 per hour
- $450 for 1/2 day (up to 4 hours - $80 savings)
- $800 full day rate (up to 8 hours - $160 savings)
- $80 each image (client selection) in full resolution and web-size
- $35 each image for web-size only (approximately 600 pixels on the longest side)
Print Prices: Standard prints are processed on professional Lustre paper with lightfastness of 100+ years or more if stored normally under UV glass or in archival sleeves. Additional fine art paper processing is available with Metallic, Gallery Linen and Canvas finishes. Please download the Print Order Form for pricing on specialty papers.
